屠妖节（假期）愉快（happy DIWALI / Deepavali / holiday）

明天2014.10.22 是大马屠妖节。

（题外话，说到Diwali，我还可真的忘了怎么翻译成华文呢！想了很久都得不到答案呢！身为华校生的我，真是很感惭愧。掩面）

屠妖节（Deeppavali），又称为万灯节、印度灯节，是印度教「以光明驱走黑暗，以善良战胜邪恶」的节日。耆那教、锡克教和尼泊尔的佛教信徒都庆祝这个节日。这一天是印度历的7月的第一天，这一天是新月降临的一日。大都在10月末到11月初举行这个节日。

每每在这个印度节日将近时，都会看到各大百货公司，超级市场的大门或走廊地上，发现由缤纷色彩的米粒弄成的美丽鲜艳的图案，称之为kolam或Rangoli。原来这些漂亮色彩动人的图腾是用做欢迎印度神Laskhmi的，现在也可用于欢迎客人的一种方式。

以下这图是在诳百货的时候拍的米绘地画。仔细看去，可以想象得到，真的挺考功夫和耐力的。

今天随着屠妖节的来临，才知道什么是kolam。（身为大马公民这么久才知道这点事儿，是有点可笑。有感人类往往是这样，最容易得到的偏偏是最不懂得珍惜。好了，不扯太远了。）

Tomorrow (22/10/2014) is Diwali, also known as Deepavali and the "festival of lights", a Festival celebrated by Hindus in autumn every year. The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.

During this festival, those who celebrating Diwali gonna be busy with house decoration, especially decorating colourful floor patterns known as "kolam" or "Rangoli" (as shown in the picture above). These Rangoli or kolam decorations are prepared using coloured flour, rice or with flower petals, displaying near the building or house entrances and corridors to welcome goddess Lakshmi and guests. 

I, myself have been living in Malaysia for my entire life, and a purely bred Malaysian, but only realize this actual meaning of celebrating Diwali today, hmm... ** feels like face palming myself... ... Yet, better late than never rite? XD

Well, for all my fellow hindu friends, Happy Deepavali to and have a blessed festival of lights, and not forgetting to have a happy holiday to all whoever may not celebrating, do enjoy this holiday..
